Note: I'm not trying to mod, just build a custom map using the software already provided. They dont go into designating player starts etc. The only vids I've found on youtube so far only cover the basics like downloading the SDK and generating a map. If anyone can offer some advice or links to helpful videos or articles I would appreciate it. Also, what are the red and white checkered squares I see covering specific tiles in the world builder interface? Are these designated starting points for AI?

Specifically, how can I specify my starting position so that I'm sure to start there? I've figured out how to place units, but I'm not sure that's enough. I've got the basics down like generating maps and editing terrain, but I'm still a bit foggy on how to specify player starts for my self (I'm not trying to craft a multiplayer map, just a personal single player map).
